Karen Lacroix

From the Making Future Magic! series.

“The collage work I do is grounded in its historical roots – Dadaism and Surrealism. However, I’m particularly interested in the role of the illustrator as an editor. I continuously collect scavenged material from varied periods. This allows me to build images that while conveying an obvious message, propose different (sometimes contradictory) interpretations and points of view.  This particular typographic collage was no exception. It is a dense combination of letterforms that both clash and cohabit with the meaning of the words.”

Karen Lacroix is an illustrator and designer based in London. She holds a masters in communication art & design from the Royal College of Art and a BA in graphic design from UQAM, Montreal.  Since graduating, Karen has been working as a freelance illustrator and designer for a wide range of clients, focusing primarily on collage work.
