Our top iPhone apps this week

The Accidental News Explorer

Browse news stories from hundreds of sources by topic, then search for related topics on a never ending series of tangents.  It’s a bit like going on Wikipedia to look up string theory, and 4 hours (and fifty links) later being unaware of what led you to an article about show poodles.  You really never know where you’ll end up.

Price: £1.19

Kunst Bauen

Create moving geometric patterns with the touch of your finger.  Kunst Bauen has a mesmerising retro/futuristic feel that mashes together the look of an Atari game from the 80s with interactive touchscreen technology.

Price: £0.59

dotdotdot

dotdotdot is a simple game that involves maneuvering a dot down through slots in moving layers to keep it from getting spiked at the top, but it’s the simplicity of the game that makes it so effective.   You tilt the iPhone itself to move the layers back and forth, and the eerie music and sound effects create a surprisingly tense mood.  And it was created in just 48 hours by ustwo.
